The trail winds through lush fynbos, limestone hills, and pristine coastal landscapes, providing panoramic views of the Indian Ocean, Breede River, and De Hoop Nature Reserve.

De Hoop is internationally renowned as one of the best land-based whale-watching spots, where southern right whales migrate from June to November to breed and care for their young.

This trail is fairly strenuous, with group bookings limited to six or twelve hikers, and children under 8 years are not allowed.
